Day Treatment Classrooms

Our day treatment classrooms are available to K-12 students who have mental, emotional, behavioral and/or social issues and who are not succeeding in regular school settings. Our goal is to welcome students and their families with open arms, focus on individual strengths, address the reasons why the student is struggling, and provide the therapy and skills needed to succeed.

Depending on the student’s grade, circumstances and treatment plan, therapy and education services can be delivered in a small classroom setting at our Riverview campus or at community schools. Eligibility is determined through a comprehensive, individualized assessment.

Our on-site intensive day treatment and education program is for qualifying elementary and middle school students in grades K-6. One-on-one therapy, group therapy and individualized education are provided year-round, five days per week at our Riverview campus in Springfield.

Students who are eligible for this level of service:

  • Demonstrate a lack of response to less intensive interventions
  • Must be willing to actively engage in treatment, along with willing family members
  • Experience multi-system involvement and/or multiple diagnoses
  • Experience a significant disruption in level of functioning compared with peers
  • Experience mental/emotional or behavioral disturbances for at least one year and present substantial risk of developing a long-term emotional disturbance, self-harm or harming others if they do not receive treatment

Most students who participate in this program have experienced mental, emotional or behavioral difficulties for at least a year. Eligibility is determined through a comprehensive individualized assessment. Family members are required to fully participate in weekly therapy and frequent communication.

Based on the assessment, families have access to a full array of services, including but not limited to crisis prevention and intervention, care coordination, case management, individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric services, skills training, family support services, child and family team treatment and wellness services. Family participation is a crucial component of the program.
These public school-based day treatment classrooms are for qualifying high school students in grades 9-12. This program offers the ability to earn high school credits through an online academic program in addition to receiving intensive therapeutic services and daily support in our program.

Students accepted into this program have had difficulty functioning in a regular classroom setting and experience acute mental health symptoms that require intensive treatment. Referrals can only be made by the student’s legal guardian. Eligibility is determined through a comprehensive individualized assessment.
